1st Farm-to-Table Dinner w/Lake Avenue Restaurant

Yker Acres & Two Mountain Winery Collaboration Dinner

Sharing our farm with our community is important. So how do you share your farm if you are unable to have farm tours? Farm-to-table dinners, of course! We had the vision of building a pavilion, nestled in our pastures with gorgeous views and amazing sunsets. That dream became a reality! With the hard work of Matt, Tiffany, and Josey-they used beams and flooring that were saw-milled right on our farm using our pine trees that were blown down in the 2016 June wind storm.

Lake Avenue Restaurant has been supporting our farm for 4 years and have hosted some creative Specialty Dinners. When they approached us to host a Farm-to-Table Dinner and provide our pork, beef, and chicken for the menu...we said YES!

The menu was brilliant...featuring our meat with lovely wine from the Yakima Valley in Washington. Chef Jeff showcased our pork in a "All the Pork" dish with grilled cheek fillet, crispy pickled tongue, pork scratchings, purple potato, fennel mornay, bacon jus, and dark berry compote. Our beef in "Beef Tartare" with cured coppa canape, cured egg yolk (which was SO yummy!) pickled shallots, horseradish mousse, preserved strawberry, and fine herbs. The main course featured our chicken in a "Smoked Chicken Breast" with corn veloute, charred vegetables, shishito peppers, and tomato vinaigrette. And last, but not least...desert was "Not your Grandma's Apple Pie" made with Mangalitsa pork lard, candied pork belly, granny smith apple compote, and brown sugar pecan crumble. Each course was paired with a chosen wine from Two Mountain Winery.

To make the dinner even more special was the wonderful guests that wanted a "farm experience", took a chance, loved the idea of having an outdoor dinner, and bravely confronted where their food came from. It's community members that support a local restaurant that in turn supports local farmers!

We are confident there will be many more specialty dinners with Lake Avenue and that adorable pavilion will enjoy many celebrations of all kinds! We love connecting people with their food and we are so proud to collaborate with Lake Avenue! We want to thank ALL of the amazing staff that helped make this night such a huge success! We look forward to working with you again!

From Sara, Matt, Tiffany, and Josey-Thank you!
